Suggest a better descriptionPlace tomatoes in a mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Combine tomatoes with cornmeal and form with hands into 8 pones, or patties. Heat bacon drippings in a large skillet, over med-high heat. Fry pones for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden. NOTE: a nice variation on this recipe is to combine tomato mixture iwth 1/4 C thinly sliced green onions before forming into cakes and frying.
