Grandmother Jameson's recipe
Beat together sugar, eggs and fruit. Sift together soda, salt and flour. Mix dry ingredients into the fruit mixture and add vanilla. Pour into a large, greased and floured pan, and sprinkle with brown sugar, coconut and chopped pecans. Bake 40 minutes at 350 deg.
TOPPING:
Bring sugar, evaporated milk and butter to a boil. Pour over hot cake in the pan.
