Set oven to 325 degrees F.
Butter an 8" x 8" pan.
In a large bowl, add melted butter and molasses and whisk together.
Measure milk and add red wine vinegar. Stir and add to wet ingredients. Mix.
Add beaten egg and mix thoroughly.
Mix together dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Add to wet ingredients and blend batter until it's pretty smooth.
Pour into greased pan and bake for 30 minutes.
Serve warm or cool with whipped cream.
