Combine ingredients. Mix thourghly. Spread evenly in 9 1/2x 13 ½ inch by ¾ inch pan.
Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 15-18 minutes. Watch carefully.
Remove from oven.
Cover evenly with coconut topping.
Return at once to oven.
Continue baking in moderate (325 degree oven) for 20 minutes or a bit longer.
Cut into 2 inch squared. Yield: 54 squares
Coconut topping
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs, well beaten
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons enriched flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 ¼ cups shredded coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
Combine sugar, eggs, and extract. Beat until light and fluffy.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Add to egg mixture,
Beat well.
Add shredded coconut and nuts. Blend thoroughly.
