In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar at high speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add and blend egg yolk and vanilla
In a medium mixing bowl, stir flour and salt with a wire wisk until salt is blended. Add flour mixture to butter mixture in two batches. Beat until well blended.
Very lightly grease a 10x15 cookie sheet with at least 1/2 inch sides. Pat the dough onto the cookie sheet using the heal of your hand. This batter will not spread. Flour your hand occasionally so the dough will not stick to your hand.
Bake at 350 for about 15-17 minutes or until the edges are lightly brown. Watch them, it will turn quickly and you will get a crunchy cookie instead of a soft one.
While still warm from the oven spread the melted hershey bar on top and then sprinkle on candy cane.
