These are great to roll out and bake to decorate for Christmas! Included is a "hard" frosting recipe. Simply delicious and a family tradition in our house for decades!
Cream shortening, butter add sugar, eggs, salt, baking powder and soda. Add flour , vanilla, almond extract and milk. Then chill. Roll 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter - bake on greased baking sheet at 400 ? for 8-10 minutes. Makes 6 dozen.
"Hard" Icing for cookies (as for decorated Christmas cookies)
4 egg whites
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
