Cream well sugar and shortening. Add eggs, bananas, and sour cream/buttermilk. Sift together dry ingredients and add to banana mixture. Mix well. Add chopped nuts and/or chocolate chips if desired and place in greased and floured baking pans. Bake at 350 degrees. Time depends upon pan size: loaf is about one hour, mini loafs about 25 minutes, muffins about 12-15 minutes.
