I love this cake! I use it often for a base to create other kinds of cakes.
Mix butter, sugar, and eggs. Add vanilla and sour cream. Mix flour, salt, and cocoa and add to creamed mixture. Boil water and stir baking soda into water. Pour into batter and mix thoroughly. Spread into greased 9x13 pan and bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Toothpick test.
Chocolate Frosting:
1 cube margarine
3 T. cocoa
6 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 cups powdered sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts
Melt and bring to boil margarine, cocoa and milk. Add remaining ingredients and pour over cooled cake.
