My great grandmother's candy recipe. Not sure where she got it from. But it is very easy and delicious.
Boil sugar, syrup, water and cream of tartar together until a soft(rolling) boil stage begins. Beat with wisk on low heat until mixture begins to cream. Add 3 tablespoons butter to mixture.
Add vanilla and walnuts to mixture. Beat with wisk until it can be rolled on to a buttered board. Knead. Form mixture into long roll (log) and slice it into cookies when cool.
