Mom’s apple pie is great for any holiday especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.
1. In large bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon peel. Add apples and toss evenly to coat.
2. Arrange apples in prepared pie plate. Sprinkle with lemon juice and dot with butter. Top with pastry. Trim and flute edges. Cut several vents in the top.
3. Bake at 425° for 40 minutes or until golden.
You can brush the crust with milk and sprinkle sugar over it about halfway through for a great crunchy texture!
This Pie has been served at every Thanksgiving and Christmas for as long as I can remember.
