Il gulash è il piatto più famoso della cucina ungherese per la sua semplicità e sapore deciso grazie all'utilizzo di deliziose spezie tra cui predomina la paprika.
Il gulash è molto simile al nostro spezzatino di manzo ma preparato basandosi sull'antica ricetta originale della tradizione ungherese dei mandriani (gulyas) che durante i propri spostamenti adoravano prepararlo all'aperto cuocendolo sul fuoco.
Con il passare dei secoli, questo piatto povero diventò uno dei piatti più apprezzati in tutta l'ungheria e, ad oggi, apprezzato praticamente in tutto il mondo.
Il successo di questo piatto ha portato anche altre culture a preparare la propria versione dando vita al Gulash Trentino, al Gulash Austriaco, al Gulash Tedesco, ma la più apprezzata rimane la ricetta originale del Gulash ungherese
