Just like the pizza, but on a sub.
Place the French loaf dough seam side down on a lightly greased baking sheet. With a sharp knife, cut six slashes about 1/2 inch deep on top of the dough.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, or until brown.
In a small bowl, combine the oil, Italian seasoning and garlic salt. Brush mixture over bread while still warm. Cool on a wire rack for 8 minutes.
Split bread in half lengthwise. Hollow out top half, leaving 1/4 inch shell - discard removed bread, or save for another use).
Spread 2-3 tablespoons of pizza sauce over shell. Top with ham, pineapple and cheese.
Put bottom on bread and flip so it is right-side up.
Bake for 6-8 minutes or until cheese is melted. Heat the remaining pizza sauce and serve with the sandwich.
The recipe has you hollow out the bottom of the bread, but that makes it too soggy for me. I found the top works much better.
To cut the cooking time down to next to nothing, use bread that is already baked.
