Purim treats with a tangy dough. Does not include recipes for creating the filling.
1) Dough
Combine ingredients into two bowls as follows.
Bowl 1: Flour, Baking Powder, Margarine
Bowl 2: Oil, Sugar, Eggs, Water, Lemon Juice, Lemon Zest, Orange Zest, Vanilla
Scoop away the center of the Bowl 1 mixture and pour Bowl 2 into the gap. Mix thoroughly. Let the dough chill in a refrigerator for 1 hour.
2) Cutting
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Remove dough from the refrigerator. Roll out the dough (don't let it get too thin!) and slice with a circular cookie cutter. Place circles on a greased baking sheet.
3) Filling
Scoop your favorite toppings into the center of each circle (e.g. cherry filling, prune filling). For each circle, fold up three flaps and press them together, creating a triangular shape. Use a beat egg to glaze, if desired, or to help stick the dough to itself.
4) Baking
Insert baking sheet into your oven, set to 350 degrees. Let bake for 20 minutes. Remove and let cool.
