Preheat oven to 400*.
Combine 1st 7 ingredients in a casserole dish (9 x 13" glass dish) along with 1 of the sticks of melted salted butter.
Mix thoroughly.
Bake at 400* for 60 minutes, setting timer to stir completely after 30 minutes (that parts important, STIR IT)
Combine the remaining stick of butter with the coarsely crushed corn flakes in a gallon sized ziplock bag, or the cereal bag. Pour over top of casserole and cook an additional 5 minutes, babysitting it because this will burn very easily. Reducing the heat before this step is a good idea. Season to taste with salt and pepper at the table and red pepper or Frank's Hot Sauce if you like heat/kick.
Great potluck, brunch, with burgers or for a cookout.
