Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Generously grease 13x9 baking dish.
In a large/oversized mixing bowl, combine shredded hash browns, sour cream, diced onion, melted butter, cream of chicken soup, cheddar cheese and salt and pepper and browned sausage.
Transfer to greased 13x9 baking dish.
Bake in 350 degree oven 35-45 minutes or until hash browns are cooked through and edges begin to brown slightly.
Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving.
This is one of our "Guilty Pleasure" recipes. Typically, we only eat this on Christmas morning!
No, it is NOT of the healthy nature... But we figure once a year is a reasonable compromise!
It's possible it's even better re-heated for a midnight snack!
