Preheat oven to 350; grease 9x13 pan.
Mix flour, baking soda, vanilla, salt, pineapple in large bowl. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
In another bowl, beat butter, cream cheese and vanilla together until creamy. Gradually mix in powdered sugar.
Frost cake while it's still warm, and sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
DO NOT short yourself on the pineapple.
