Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease large bowl and stir together flour, sugar, baking powder,and 1/2 teas salt. With pastry blender or using 2 knives scissor fashion, cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in ricotta, cherries, pecans, vanilla, lemon peel, and eggs until well combined. Turn dough onto floured surface. With floured hands, knead dough two or three times to blend. With floured rolling pin, roll out dough into 10x8 oval. Fold oval legnthwise in half so that bottom dough extends about 1 inch.Place on prepared cookie sheet and bake 55-60 minutes. Transfer to wire rack and cool. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar just before serving.
