Homemade no preservative syrup
1. In a medium saucepan combine sugar and cocoa powder. Whisk to break up clumps.
2. Stir in water and salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently.
Once the mixture boils, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until slightly thickened (about 5 minutes).
3. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes.
4. Stir in vanilla extract.
5. Cool/store in the refrigerator.
6. Pour into some sort of serving bottle-you can purchase glass ones, or (if you're me) just use a leftover chocolate syrup bottle.
