Tastes like the real thing, just needs the toy
Preheat oven to 250(F) degrees.
Line two cookie sheets with aluminum foil.
In a wide pan with high sides, such as a turkey roaster, combine the popcorn & HALF OF THE PEANUTS.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter. Add the sugar, corn syrup, and salt, & bring to a boil over medium heat. Continue to boil for 5 minutes. No need to stir.
REMOVE FROM THE HEAT AND MIX IN THE VANILLA & BAKING SODA.
While the glaze is still very hot, pour MOST of it over the popcorn and peanuts, tossing with a buttered spoon until well combined.
Add the rest of the peanuts into the remaining glaze and stir until well coated. Stir into roasting pan.
Put the roasting pan in the oven and bake for 1 hour.
Cool on aluminum-foil lined cookie sheets. Break apart any big clumps.
Store at room temperature in a tin or a re-sealable plastic bags or tins.
It speeds up the process if you have an air popper!
