Family favorite side dish for every occasion.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Boil a 16 oz box of pasta for 10 minutes and drain.
Melt a stick of butter.
Spray a 9 x 13 pan and sprinkle a little bit of grated cheddar cheese on the bottom.
Layer half of the pasta.
Drizzle half of the melted butter.
Sprinkle with pepper.
Put a layer of American cheese, and a layer of grated cheddar.
Pour milk to this level but not completely covering.
Repeat the layers except for the milk, ending with the grated cheddar.
Tent a piece of foil and cover the dish, leaving open spaces for steam to escape.
Bake at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes (checking periodically to see if the milk is cooking out). Once milk is cooked out, remove foil and cook until cheese is bubbly.
