Butter a shallow 3 quarts baking dish
Arrange potatoe slices in baking dish, cover with liquid until submerged.
Cover baking dish with foil and place on a rimmed baking sheet in oven for 25 minutes.
remove foil and bake until potatoes are tender and the top is golden, approx 50 to 65 minutes.
