This is an old after-ski favorite from Blanco Basin trips

Soften butter and mix well with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (or mace) & vanilla. Refrigerate or freeze until you're going to use it. (Keeps a long time in the freezer).
For each serving, use 1 tablespoon of mix plus 1/2 to 1 1/2 ounces of rum and approximately 6 ounces of boiling water in a mug. Stir until the butter melts and the ingredients mix with the hot water. Add more mix or liquids if the mixture is not strong enough for your taste.
For show, place a stick of cinnamon in each mug to serve as a stirrer.
Note: Ground mace is more finely ground and a little mellower than nutmeg (which can be grainy). I prefer mace, but if it is not on hand, nutmeg tastes great.
Enjoy!
