1. Heat oil in a large heavy pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook till softened and sweet they should not brown, if they do, turn heat down.
2. Add beef turn heat up and brown the beef breaking it up as you go. Once the beef is brown.
3. Add the remaining Sauce ingredients except the sugar.
4. Stir and bring to a slowly, gently bubbling simmer. Cover and cook for 1.5-2 hours stirring occasionally
5. Remove lid and simmer for 30 minutes.
6. While sauce is simmering put lasagna noodles in boiling water and cook to el-dente.
7. Preheat oven to 350 f
8. In an 8x8x2 baking dish place a smear of sauce.
9. Cover sauce with two noodles cutting to fit.
10. Cover noodles with enough sauce to hide the noodles.
11. Cover the sauce with sliced mozzarella.
12. Repeat steps 9, 10, and 11 till you are out of noodles.
13. Bake for 25 minutes till bubbling and golden.
14. Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes and serve.
