Place sliced apples in a large mixing bowl.
Add sugars, flour, currants and seasonings to the apples and toss evenly to distribute. Add the melted butter and water and toss to moisten.
Neatly pile the apple mix into the unbaked steel. Level off top of pie.
Cut the 2/3c butter into the 1/4c flour with two knives until mixture is crumbly. Gently mix in the sugars and spices. Use immediately as a pie topping.
Pile, without packing the crumb topping on the pie, completely covering the entire surface. Place in a preheated 425 degree oven and bake 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 degrees and bake 1 hour. Remove from oven and cool to warm.
Strudel Glaze: Mix powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth. While warm, drizzle the glaze over the pie. Cool completely before serving.
