Put chickpeas with 1/2 cup of their liquid in a blender. Add garlic, oil, and tahini, salt and pepper to taste. Puree for a minute or 2 until very smooth. Add more cooking liquid, oil or tahini as desired until the taste and consistency is as you like. Transfer to a saucepan and heat, adding lemon and salt and pepper to taste.
