The best homemade rolls I make!

Combine yeast, sugar, and 2 Tbsp lukewarm water in large bowl. Stir mixture until yeast is dissolved. Add milk, egg, salt and half the flour. Mix well. Mix in shortening. Add remaining flour, mixing until smooth. DO NOT KNEAD!! Cover and chill overnight.
Divide dough into three equal portions. Roll one portion into a circle. Cut circle into 12 wedges. Roll as for crescent rolls. Place on greased baking sheet. Repeat with other dough portions.
Let crescents rise for three hours. Bake at 350F for 15 to 20 mins - or until golden. I usually brush the tops with a little butter or margarine.
