Pre heat oven to 170 degrees C
Mix together the flour and the salt, then add the nuts and treacle.
Next sprinkle in the baking powder and the vinegar which should react slightly and foam.
Quickly stir in the buttermilk and mix to combine.
The mixture should be quite wet and you should need to flour your hands and the surface.
Mix into a tight ball or smaller loaves if required and place on a non stick baking tray and bake for 30-40 minutes until hollow sounding.
Leave to cool for at least 25 minutes before cutting.
