Combine shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, milk and vanilla in a large bowl.
Beat at medium speed until well blended
Add egg - mix just until blended
Combine flour, salt and baking soda
Add to creamed mixture at low speed - mix just until blended
Drop by tablespoonfuls 2" apart onto baking sheet
Flatten in crosscross patter with fort
Bake 7-8 minutes
Cool on cookie sheet for 2 minutes
