Every bite is delicious with the apples layered throughout the cake.
Grease and flour cake pan.
Divide Apples into two equal batches.
Peel, core and slice thin each batch.
Divide equally:
- 4 teaspoons Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
In medium bowl, sift together Flour mixture:
- Flour
- Baking Powder
- Salt
In separate large bowl, beat Eggs for Batter.
Beat 2 cups Sugar gradually into egg Batter.
Beat oil into Batter.
Beat into Batter alternating small amounts of Flour mixture and Orange Juice.
Beat in Vanilla extract.
Preheat oven to 350.
Layer into baking pan:
- 1/3 Batter
- 1/2 Apples
- 1/2 Spices
Be sure to spread to all corners of cake pan.
Repeat layering.
End with 1/3 Batter on top.
Bake at 350 for 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending on size of pan. I use a tube pan and it takes 1 hour 50 minutes. Be sure inserted toothpick pulls out dry to check for doneness.
