It is a Challah meaning "offering" in Hebrew. We like it because it keeps due to the oil and eggs. This is a non-dairy version. One cannot use a delayed timer for this recipe due to the eggs. YOu can bake it in the machine or take it out and braid it (the traditional version) and bake in in the oven at 350 degrees for 45 min. to an hour.
Place all ingredients in the pan in the order given. You can use the basic cycle on your bread machine or your own program.
I have also used the speed cycle, but the bread does not rise as evenly, the top half is lighter than the lower half, but it is perfectly edible.
If you wish to make a braid, divide dough into 3 equal sections. Using your palms roll each portion into a fat cylinder about 14 inches long. Place three ropes parallel to each other on parchment or silicone liner and braid from the center of each rope towards one end and then the other. Tuck in ends. bake 45 min to an hour.
If you are not using a bread machine, I would recommend using the directions for basic white bread in the kitchen aid book or any other book.
