Cream shortening and sugar together.
Beat the egg and stir in the coffee and molasses.
Sift the dry ingredients together.
Gradually add the egg mixture and stir until smooth.
Stir in the raisins and mix well.
Form dough into 4 long strips on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350F for about 25 minutes (check for doneness with a tooth pick)
Let cool for 5 minutes before cutting into 2 inch bars.
