Sautee fine chopped onion in butter until golden brown.
In a large pot, stir kasha and egg until dry. Boil pasta until soft and then drain.
Add cooked onion to kasha and also add the cooked pasta. Stir and salt to taste.
Add boiled water to kasha, cover and reduce heat to simmer until water is absorbed.
