Cream butter and powdered sugar. Blend in the lime juice, zest, and vanilla; set aside. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt. Add this to the butter mixture, stir until combined. Roll dough into a log; chill for at least one hour. Slice log into 1/8-inch thick rounds, place on parchment lined baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 11-14 minutes.
Powdered sugar: Remove cookies from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. While still warm, put cookies in a bag with powdered sugar and shake until coated. Then allow to cool completely.
Royal icing: Allow cookies to cool completely. Ice with thin layer of icing.
