Old, South Florida recipe. From Judy Cheaney, Wilton Manors, FL circa 1973
1. Mix condensed milk, egg yolks and lime juice in a bowl. (The mixture should thicken when the lime juice is added.)
2. Beat 1 egg white until stiff and fold into pie mixture. Place mixture in pie shell.
3. Beat remainign three egg whites, adding the sugar, cream of tartar and salt, until stiff. Spread over pie.
4. Bake at 350 F. until meringue is browned.
