Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup of the scalded milk and add 1 tablespoon sugar. Let is set until it foams.
Mix flour, sugar, salt and butter. Will have a texture like pie crust.
Beat remaining milk and eggs with vanilla. Add to dry mixture and knead until smooth. Refrigerate overnight.
Nut filling:
Use last 4 ingredients from the list
Cook sugar and water together until sugar dissolves (boil about 3 minutes). Remove from heat and let it cool to luke warm. Add nuts and vanilla.
Remove dough from refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature (about 15 minutes). Divide into 6 or 7 rolls.
Roll out and brush with melted butter, spread nut filling and roll up. Place on cookie sheet. Put 3-4 slashes on each roll. Let them rise for 30 minutes. Brush with a beaten egg and 1 teaspoon sugar.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes. Cook on rack.
