Suggest a better descriptionPut lentils in large pot. Cover with water (about 1 - 2 " over top of lentil)s. Heat over high heat, until boiling. Turn off heat. Cover with lid. Let stand for 1 hour.
Drain lentils and rinse.
Saute bacon and onions. Put in crock pot and add everything else. Turn on low and cook for 6-8 hours. Remove ham bone (or ham hock) and 2 bay leaves.
You can add 1 peeled potatoes, diced, if you would like.
