Hearty enough to be a main dish
1. Using food processor, chop carrots, celery and onion
2. Boil water and dissolve the bouillon cubes
3. Add a little olive oil to pot and sauté chopped ingredients for about 10 minutes
4. Use processor to chop the ham steak cubes
5. Add finely chopped ham to pot and continue to sauté
6. Add the chicken bouillon stock and bring to boil
7. Cover pot, reduce stove to simmer and simmer for about 90 minutes
8. Add the quartered potatoes to the pot about 20 to 30 minutes before the end of the cooking period. Test potatoes with fork.
You can substitute yellow split peas but they need to be washed and precooked in the microwave in one cup of the bouillon stock for 4 to 5 minutes
