Remove layer of zest from oranges I long strips
Trim away any white pith
Place in a 2qt pitcher or bowl
Pour vodka over peels and cover with plastic wrap
Leave at room temp for 4 days
Combine water & sugar. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat & simmer for 5 min
Take off the heat & cool for 1 hour
Pour over vodka
Cover the pitcher & let stand overnight
Strain thru mesh strainer. Discard peels
Refrigerate for 1 week
