Line pie plate with pastry. Boil sugar and sirup together for about 2 minutes. Pour slowly over slightly beaten eggs, stirring vigorously. Add butter, vanilla, rum, salt and nut meats. Pour into unbaked pastry-lined pie plate. Bake in pre-heated oven at 325 degrees until golden brown.
