Very basic and very easy pot roast.
Cook onion in butter (or fat). Use a big lidded pot, not a skillet.
Remove onion and brown meat on all sides in same pot.
Put the onion back in, and add some salt to taste, Tabasco, and undrained can of tomatoes.
Cover and simmer over low heat 1-2 hours, until meet is tender. Serve with rice.
