Preheat oven to 375. Place 5 sheets phyllo dough on a sprayed cookie sheet. In a medium bowl, mix the apples, pears, 2 tbsp of sugar, vanilla, spice, lemon zest, and cornstarch. Mix well. Place onto the phyllo dough. Sprinkle the walnuts in. Fold the phyllo and tuck to shape into a strudel. Use a knife to make slits across the top of the strudel. Beat the egg and brush onto the strudel to completely cover. Sprinkle remaining tbsp. sugar onto the top of the strudel. Bake for 25-30 minutes until lightly brown. Serve warm. Great topped with vanilla ice cream!
