Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 45 minutes. Strain.
Use this sauce to baste meat just before removing the meat from the grill (so as not to burn the sauce). Then add more sauce before serving.
During cooking, regularly baste the meat with a mixture of vinegar, lemon juice and garlic powder to keep it from drying out.
