Beat butter with 1/2 cup confectioners sugar until fluffy and light. Stir in flour, vanilla and nuts.
Roll dough, a level teaspoon at a time, into balls between palms of hands. Place one inch apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until firm. Remove carefully from cookie sheet and while hot, roll in remaining confectioners sugar.
