Crumble chopped beef on the bottom of a pot, brown and drain off fat. Add onion, salt and pepper to taste, ketchup, bullion. Cover with water and bullion cubes and cook for 20 minutes. Add carrots, peas and potatoes. Cook until potatoes are done (probably another 30 minutes). Thicken with a paste made out of cornstarch and water.
