Heat oven to 450F. Mix flour, sugar, and butter until smooth. Add milk and vanilla and pour into unbaked pie shell. Make sure mixture is very smooth before pouring into shell.
Dot with butter and bake 10 minutes. Lower heat to 350F and bake for one hour until thick and bubbly. Do not underbake.
