Suggest a better descriptionAdd puree and crushed tomatoes to a large stock pot. Rinse out each can with half a can of water and add to the pot. Cut onion into quarters and add to the pot. Add remaining sauce ingredients and give it a good stir. Put the pot over a low heat, then cook the sausage. Brown sausage in skillet, then add to sauce. While it's cooking, make the meatballs. Combine all ingredients using your hands. Form into balls. In batches, brown them in the skillet. After there all added to the pot, drain off the excess fat and deglaze the pan with some water. Scrape up all the browned bits from the skillet. Add to the pot and simmer over a low heat for a minimum of 2 hours. Stir every so often as to not burn the bottom but don't stir too often to break up the meatballs.
