Place dill, onion and clove in each jar (herb measurements are for each jar). Mix cider, water and salt for brine and bring to a boil. Add boiling brine to each jar and add the alum to each jar. Place in a water bath to seal lids (can do upside down). Ready to eat in a month, good for at least a year.
