Preheat oven to 350 degrees.Cream together butter and sugar. Then mix in molasses and egg. Then add flour, salt, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and soda. Measure cookies by the tablespoon and roll into balls. Then roll balls in sugar. Bake for 10 minutes.
If you don't have access to Blackstrap molasses, you can put in 1/2 cup of normal molasses instead.(Blackstrap molasses is actually much cheaper)
