It's what I make at home
In a large pot, fill 3/4 full of water. Add some salt, and bring to a boil.
Dump in the 4 cups of macaroni noodles, turn down to med-high heat, and cook according to directions - usually about 10-12 minutes. Stir frequently to avoid sticking on the bottom!
In a microwave safe 1 quart bowl add the stick of butter, sliced/cubed cheese, shredded cheese, onion powder (if using), garlic, paprika, and 1/2 cup of milk. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir together. Continue to microwave a minute at a time, stirring in between, until it's smooth and creamy. Add more milk if it's too thick to pour easily. (1/2 c)
When the noodles are done, drain and put back in pot. Dump in the cheese sauce and taste. Add salt and pepper if needed.
Sprinkle a little more paprika on top for a nice appearance.
You can also throw this in a casserole dish, sprinkle shredded cheese and on top, heat until melted and take it to a carry-in!
Or dump it in a crockpot to take to a potluck! Add more milk to make sure it doesn't dry out!
For Cheeseburger Macaroni use this recipe. Fry a pound of hamburger with a 1/4 cup chopped onions (or 1/2 tsp onion powder). Add the hamburger to the pot of mac and cheese. You might need to add a little more cheese and milk for this scenario. Measurements are approximate as I just dump stuff and don't always measure! Create your own! Try different seasonings!
