Suggest a better descriptionMom's Spaghetti Sauce (well, OK, the Betty Crocker Cookbook Spaghetti Sauce Recipe)
Directions:
Brown ground beef and drain well. (the recipe also calls for one finely chopped onion and 1 finely chopped green pepper to be browned with the beef, but I omit those). Stir in remaining ingredients. (You can also add one can chopped ripe olives, canned mushrooms, and 2 cloves of garlic, crushed, at this point if you wish.) I often add some fresh or dried basil. Bring to a boil, stirring VERY frequently (use a red spoon, if you are lucky enough to have one from TJMaxx, so that your stirring utensil does not become stained). Reduce temperature to very low heat and simmer, covered, for at least 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
For spaghetti and meatballs, (or spaghetti and chicken sausage) omit the ground beef.
